We have selected the most popular and evocative images of the #occupygezi coverage and removed all the protagonists.
We have removed the direct violence, as if to remove evidence. Only clues are left. The images have the same aura and atmosphere as the originals, although they were extremely manipulated in most cases.
The edited images will be fed directly into the live stream of the #occupygezi movement to interact with the real events.
It's about to simply and quickly make something disappear, to generate its own aesthetic. It creates a creepy atmosphere, you feel that something is missing. Either one knows the real images and remembers or the gap must be filled by your imagination. Free interpretation makes the images more powerful, stronger and more intense. Perfect Fake may not represent the process and are aesthetically simply be equated with a photograph. The images must be clearly manipulated.
We will show the images in an effective media-place, directly in Turkey. In the city of Istanbul, next to Gezi Park.
We will enter and occupy one of the most exclusive places of Istanbul and stage an Occupy exhibition in the immediate vicinity of Erdogan. The images of the streets will be smuggled and installed in the most expensive hotel of Istanbul, in the €30,000 Sultan Suite of the Kempinski.
Only in this extremely artificial world the maximum contrast is given to view the images with the greatest possible distance.
The exhibition runs for 3 days in the Sultan Suite of the Kempinski Hotel Istanbul.
We will document the entire performance and feed the online live stream via our blog and social medias.
A politically motivated performance directly in the affected country always involves risks such as travel bans, confiscation or imprisonment. We are willing to take these risks in order to take the #occupy thoughts into the Kempinski.
Our project is very well prepared and we have designed strategies to minimize the risks.
